Dear Families,
We are counting collections in TK. Through counting collections, we learn a
variety of Math concepts such as oral counting, developing efficient counting strategies,
grouping objects in strategic ways, recording numbers, and representing mathematical
thinking.
If you have any collections you'd like to share with us, please send these collections in a
plastic bag or container anytime throughout the school year. Some suggestions for items to
collect are bread tags, acorns, paper clips, coins, buttons, game pieces, puzzles, jar lids,
keys, rocks, shells, mini pine cones, marbles, etc. Ideally there would be at least 50 objects in the collection you send.
We will have fun counting these objects in class and adding them to our classroom
museum. If you have any questions about "counting collections," please call or send me
a note.
Thanks!
Mrs. Eng
